Race to Read

Troy Kingsbury stopped by with a few friends today! Every WES student got to check out the race cars, get autographs, prizes and meet Miss. Vermont! The kids who filled out their entire Race to Read form got to sign not only Troy's hood but Cameron Ouellette's too! Look for them on the Thunder Road track this year!
And don't forget...if you finish your form, bring it with you and find Troy! He'll be there on June 16th giving away hot dogs and RACE CAR RIDES!!!!!!

Paper Airplane Contest

Today we popped our day 9 balloon! 4th graders crafted some very detailed paper airplanes then we had a friendly (okay not too friendly) competition! The most common distance was 19 feet. Ciera's soared way past our tape measure and went an estimated 40+ feet! Way to go girl!

Writing

Students worked hard on the third paragraphs of their mystery stories. They're setting the scene by providing background information and dropping clues. Tomorrow we'll start to investigate and introduce the suspects.

Bubble Blowing!

After kicking serious butt on the Science NECAP test, we popped our first balloon and the surprise activity was a bubble blowing contest! We chewed two pieces of big bubblegum and started practicing! The bubbles were quite impressive!

Field trip to Small Step Farm

More photos from our great day!

Field trip to Small Step Farm!

We had a blast today! The kids learned so much while visiting Small Step Farm! We planted asparagus and learned that it will produce for the next 15-20 years but the catch is, the first two years are maturing years! The kids noted that they could come back when they're almost 30 and eat from the same plant! Cool.
We also planted potatoes, lettuce, kale, chard and parsley! We picked out veggies for the WES garden and finished our trip with maple creemees. TOP DAY!

20 more days!

Each day we'll pop a balloon and find out what surprise activity we'll be doing that day! Ask your student how they are wrapping up a wonderful school year!

Science predictions!

Before we started experimenting the kids wrote great predictions. They all remembered to use a because and really explain their reasoning!

Science

We kicked off our Life Science unit on structure and functions by doing an inquiry experiment on bird beaks! The kids worked well together and collected accurate data! Remember to persevere through the follow up questions on the NECAP test next week!

Math

Mrs. Corriveau has never used the Cuisenaire Rods before, but she's a master at teaching division. She's been a big help in the classroom and is learning a few new tricks to add to her teaching belt. The tiles and rods have been helpful! beans are a great item to use at home!
Thanks Mrs. Corriveau!
